The Chicken’s Friend has a

July 31st, 2003 by Habib

The Chicken’s Friend has a bleat in the Op/Ed pages of the Oz today, whining about the plight of reffos on Nauru. Among the pitiful caterwauling (and the comment string down the bottom is even more pathetic, if such an abomination is possible) was this gem:”My thoughts turned to my 21-month-old daughter, who is at a crucial stage of development. I tried to imagine her growing up in this sort of place, perhaps separated from her father, with no one in the family aware of what the future may hold.”
If the future is without her father, she is possibly in with a chance of growing up relatively normal and well adjusted.
I didn’t think it was possible, but I am starting to think the Bartlett is a bigger tit than Stott-Despoya.
How long until the next Senate election?

Good to see that judicial

July 31st, 2003 by Habib

Good to see that judicial activism is not limited to the High Court; David Lloyd J. of the NSW Land and Environment Court has seen fit to overturn what would be one of the few planning decisions made by a council with popular support.
Baulkham Hills Council had refused planning approval for Muslim prayer hall because it was not in character with the area, and had been subject to a large number of objections.
Now thanks to the bench of the L&E Court, the majority of ratepayers in this area are to be saddled with a building they neither want or need, to satisfy the political correctness lobby.
Great to see democracy in action.
Nice to see that Lloyd also views the objectors as irrational- I wonder what his view would be if it was going up next to his place?
Have you ever heard the ruckus that emanates from mosques several times a day?
Most Immams sould like they have their bollocks caught in a blender when calling the faithful to prayer, but according to Lloyd there will be no “loss of ammenity”.

You can buy anything on

July 31st, 2003 by Habib

You can buy anything on the ‘net these days- bidding is still pretty low, when you consider there’s probably a few bucks worth of lead and nickel in the carcasses, and you could always flog them on to a medical school.
(I’m sure the Psych department would be interested in what’s in the cranial cavity).

What is the world coming

July 31st, 2003 by Habib

What is the world coming to when a purveyor of randomly toxic street wares has to lie under a Government vehicle to fight for her right to flog dodgy dim-sum to passing pissed tourists?
I have been to Hong Kong on numerous occasions, especially for the Rugby 7s, and have found the best (and often safest) tucker to be that provided by street vendors.
Honkers is going to the pack since the Commies took over.

“Dateline” (SBS TV 30/07 2030)

July 30th, 2003 by Habib

“Dateline” (SBS TV 30/07 2030) started with an item extolling the virtues of Harold Keke and his Malita Freedom Fighters as brave rebels, taking on the might of the ADF and accompanying forces, putting forward the view that he was a freedom-fighter for Guadalcanal.
The last force that could have been described as freedom-fighters for Guadalcanal to me were the 1st Marine Division.
Harry and his rag-bag retinue of yahoos are criminals, nothing less. I have had dealings in this neck of the woods, and the modus operandi and tired marxist drivel is the same- these bastards are nothing more than raskols.
The program tried to redeem itself with an item about the excesses of Uday Hussein in dealing with the national Iraqi soccer team, them proceeded to take a feed from Baghdad from a whiskery idiot I have not come across before; I only caught the name “Paul”, but he proceeded to describe the Iraq situation using every cliche’ of the left, then adding a few of his own; he must have mentioned the “West Bank” and “Belfast” at least ten times, with no justification for the analogy.
As stated before, SBS is right in tune with the ABC.
I still have not had a reply (except for acknowledgement) of my formal complaint to the ABC.
When I get some actual correspondence, I will post it.

The Germans are still desperately

July 30th, 2003 by Habib

The Germans are still desperately trying to prove that they were right all along about Iraq, El Que’da and every other thing they’ve gotten wrong, as this incredibly selective piece broadcast on SBS “Cutting Edge” Tues 29/07 2030.

The sausage-eaters picked and chose who they spoke to, then selectively edited the copy they obtained, resulting in an incoherent mismash of conflicting opinions and glaring omissions, the very thing they were trying to accuse the CIA and State Department of.

That SBS chose to run this without any disclaimer that the “documentary” was the opinion of the producers and not fact says more about SBS management than I would care to.

What the fuck- SBS has lost the plot! They were relatively respectable for the balance shown, but they are now as bad as the ABC.
Why don’t they just merge- between the two of them, they could probably pull an audience equal to Channel 10’s midnight to dawn figure; hell, they might even get some sponsorship so they could be a little independent.

You have to scroll all

July 30th, 2003 by Habib

You have to scroll all the way to the end of this AAP article before it is revealed that the cop in question gave the arrested suspect a bat in the gob only after the detained suspect had applied a squirrel grip to the cop’s nuts.
Doesn’t sound like a racial assault to me- sounds like a retaliation to an unprovoked sexual assault.
If the basterd had have given my bollocks a battering he would have copped more that a bitch slap.

Why should advocacy groups be

July 30th, 2003 by Habib

Why should advocacy groups be treated as charities for tax purposes?

A hard-nosed libertarian like me would question whether actual charities should be exempt from income tax and GST (and churches for that matter), let alone organisations formed to push agendas and alter government policy?

Funny how the yahoos who are diametrically opposed to tax concessions for the poor bastards who pay userous levies on every aspect of their lives squeal like stuck pigs about having to kick in to pay for some of the idiotic schemes they promote.

This has nothing to do with stifling the freedom of expression of ay organisation- if they choose to act as an advocate and lobby group, they are treated as such for taxation purposes.

Charities are about helping the poor/unfortunate/destitute/animals etc., not acting as a political organisation.
No true charity is agenda-driven.
